The Besseggløpet follows the regular T-marked route along the ridge, starting at Memurubu and finishing at the Gjendeosen parking area. The terrain is rugged, mainly gravel and stone, and there will typically be some snow on parts of the trail. The start and finish are at about 1000 meters above sea level, with the highest point at approximately 1743 meters above sea level. The course is about 14 km long, and there is also a children's race of 1.5 km.
