The Konrad Race was organized for the first time in 2002, two years after Konrad passed away at the age of 90. The course is 4.5 km long, and the race starts as early as 5:00 AM because Konrad preferred to train early in the morning, as he believed the air was the cleanest then. This year, it was Abdulaziz Ibrahim from Eritrea who crossed the finish line first with a time of 14:11, thus setting a new race record.
