The Thursday Run is the largest race in Sarpsborg and takes place every Thursday from Easter to Christmas. The race was first held in its current course in 1985 and has in recent years hosted between 30 and 40 events annually, with an average of 40 to 50 participants. The course runs through the forest between Grålum and the Østfold Hospital in Kalnes, and it is a tradition to wear a Santa hat in the last race of the season. The top 30 runners in each race are awarded points according to the World Cup system, which are summarized in the Thursday Cup.
